playField is developing a theatrical journey: visitors follow a path of text and images that leads toward the pavilion. Along this journey, a speculative afterlife unfolds. The Last Resort imagines an all-inclusive paradise escape as a floor plan around the pavilion. The guests here are not living people, but deadbots: digital relatives, AI reconstructions of people who are no longer with us.

As a voyeur, the viewer observes the deadbot, which may behave differently once it is being watched. Various artistic interventions offer a glimpse into a world that does not actually exist—like perforations from our world into the world of our digital alter egos.

The visitor walks through the resort, outlined in the grass by a mowed pattern or chalk lines. Signs repeatedly mark the spaces of a place that promises you can stay. This form refers, on the one hand, to the imaginary spaces of childhood play and, on the other, to archaeological excavations of a place that no longer exists.

This event is part of the programme of the REFUGE pavilion.
