For nearly three weeks, choreographer Katja Heitmann collects the everyday movements of Kortrijk, Valencienne and Lille for her movement archive Motus Mori (meaning “extinct movement”). During a living exhibition from Friday 8 November to Sunday 10 November, all these movement portraits will be embodied by dancers.

Since 2019, choreographer Katja Heitmann has been building an archive for human movement: Motus Mori. Working with a growing group of movement-archivists, she collects and preserves movements from people of all ages, bodies and backgrounds. Based on this ever-moving archive, she creates artworks.

Her archives stretch from city to city, country to country. In each city where her exhibition is presented, she and her team meet local people, collect their gestures, and offer us not only a sample of the movements of the region but above all an impressive and poignant image of humanity, in all its diversity.

This presentation as part of NEXT festival is in collaboration with Be-Part.
