Chris Dercon has a long-held interest in archives, and therefore also in the œuvre and activities of Nico Dockx whom he met when Nico was still an art student in Antwerp. They have been in contact ever since. Both believe in serendipity, that you always find what you are not looking for. Chris Dercon was at the helm of different cultural institutions in New York, Rotterdam, Munich, London and Berlin for the past 40 years. Since 2019 he is working in Paris, and has, since the spring of 2023, been managing director of the Fondation Cartier, the oldest private art foundation in France. Today, as always he is continuing to expand and to sort out his own and other archives.
