Tom Callemin (Ostend, 1991) lives and works in Ghent. He studied photography and media art, and is currently affiliated with KASK & Conservatorium Ghent as a researcher.

Double Reality marks the conclusion of his six-year doctoral research into the relationship between photography, perception, and identity. His work is often created in his studio, where he constructs images that challenge our ways of seeing. Within this space, Callemin meticulously reconstructs a world that prompts us to reflect on how we read photographs and accept them as truth. The result is a body of deeply compelling images.

The exhibition Double Reality brings together the works Callemin has produced over the past six years. It is the first time these pieces are presented as a single whole. With the exhibition design created especially for Abby, he offers visitors a glimpse into the processes behind the making of his images.

Coinciding with the exhibition, a new publication will be released by Art Paper Editions.
