In the exhibition I'm Lost in a Forest, Belgian artist Gideon Kiefer (°1970) literally takes the visitor to the forests of Neerpelt, where he grew up. His (childhood) memories and the unreliability of our memory have previously been the subject of his drawings and paintings, but also his socially critical view of the growing climate crisis is a common thread throughout his oeuvre. Kiefer produced six new works for this exhibition, and presents them together with fourteen works from private collections, which date from the period of 2016 to 2022. For the new paintings, in which he works on larger scale, he uses canvas as a support. Here, the physical aspect plays more and more a decisive role. The standing manner of painting affects his painting style. When a painter works standing up, he is more in motion during the painting process, his touch becomes less still and looser. Kiefer thus strikes a new path and invites you on an immersive journey through a scenography by Patrick Lefebure.

For this exhibition, Kris Ercken, LADM, has created a soundscape, a bruitage with all sorts of objects and musical instruments.
